Meet the home

Built from family memory, restored for travellers.

Dona is the heart and primary host behind The Turquoise Letterbox. Together with her husband, their two children and golden retriever, Messi, she balances full-time work with the joy of opening this family home to travellers. The house was built by Dona’s grandfather in the 1950s and carries the memory of a real Kolkata family home.

In 2020, Dona and her husband moved back to Kolkata with a dream to restore those memories, brick by brick. Their first unit opened in November 2023, and guests began arriving with stories, laughter and friendship.

When work or travel takes Dona and her husband between Kolkata and Bangalore, Rabindra da and Pushpa welcome guests with the same warmth, care and practical support that define The Turquoise Letterbox.

Cab drop-off: 120, CIT Rd, Paddapukur, Entally, Kolkata, West Bengal 700014.

From the drop-off point, it is usually a 30-second to 1-minute walk to the homestay gate. WhatsApp your ETA and call the caretaker 10–15 minutes before reaching so he can guide you.

A reservation is a mutual commitment.

We are a three-unit family-run homestay. Our policy is designed to share commitment fairly between guest and host, while still leaving room for a genuine conversation when circumstances are unusual.

We normally request a 50% non-refundable advance to reserve your unit exclusively for the agreed dates.

During your stay

50% later

The remaining 50% can normally be paid during the stay or at check-out, unless another arrangement has been agreed.

At our discretion, a clear personal commitment may be accepted instead of advance payment. We value the human side of hosting.
